By using RailcarWire you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. What RailcarWire is
RailcarWire is an independent information service. It publishes a weekly digest of publicly posted freight railcar listings and hosts a Parts Needs Board for railcar repair material. We are not a broker, dealer, lessor or party to any transaction, and we are not affiliated with the listing sources unless stated.
2. Listings: excerpt, link and credit
- Listings are collected from public web pages. We show short excerpts (generally under 240 characters) and key facts such as car type, quantity, capacity, sale/lease and any posted price, always with a link to the original listing and a credit to the source.
- Our collector identifies itself, follows each site's robots.txt and waits between requests. We don't copy images or full listing text.
- Listings can be out of date, incomplete or misclassified. Always confirm details with the source before relying on them.
3. Corrections and takedowns
If you own or represent a source, or you believe something on RailcarWire is inaccurate or infringes your rights, email railcarwire@mail.grokbot.com with the page URL and what you'd like changed. We aim to respond within 2 business days. We'll correct, re-credit or remove the item, and stop collecting from a source on request.
4. Parts Needs Board
- Your posts: you're responsible for what you post and confirm you're authorized to buy or sell what you describe. You give RailcarWire permission to display, edit for formatting or remove your post and to include it in the digest and alerts.
- Moderation: posts and replies are reviewed before they appear or are forwarded. We may decline, edit or remove anything at our discretion, and posts expire after 90 days.
- Dealing directly: buyers and sellers deal with each other directly. RailcarWire doesn't verify parties, inspect or certify parts, handle payments or shipping, or guarantee that any deal happens.
- No warranty on parts or transactions: parts condition, compliance with AAR, FRA or other standards, fitness for service, title and delivery are solely between the parties. Do your own inspection and due diligence.
4a. Owner-submitted listings
- By submitting a listing you confirm that you own the cars or are authorized to offer them, and that the details are accurate.
- Listings are reviewed before they appear. We may decline, edit for formatting or remove any listing, and listings expire after 90 days.
- Your company name and listing details are shown publicly; your name and email are not. Inquiries are reviewed and then forwarded to you, and you deal with buyers directly. RailcarWire isn't a party to any sale or lease.
5. Prohibited content and conduct
Don't post or send:
- stolen, counterfeit or misrepresented parts, or parts you don't have the right to sell;
- material that isn't freight-railcar repair material, or hobby and model items;
- spam, unrelated advertising, chain messages or bulk solicitations;
- personal contact details in public notes (use the reply system), or other people's personal information;
- unlawful, defamatory, harassing or misleading content, or malware and links to it.
Don't scrape the parts board, get around rate limits or moderation, or interfere with the site. We may block users or networks that break these rules.
6. Newsletter and alerts
Subscriptions are free and use double opt-in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.
7. Disclaimers
RailcarWire is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, availability, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing on the site is an offer, appraisal, or financial, legal or engineering advice.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, RailcarWire and its owner won't be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for losses from transactions between users or reliance on listings. Our total liability for any claim is limited to US$100.
9. Indemnity
If you post content or deal with other users through RailcarWire, you agree to cover RailcarWire's reasonable costs from claims arising from your content, your transactions or your breach of these terms.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms, and we'll change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
